Remembering – Ken Lake
In 1996, at the age of 41, Ken was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer. After undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, he successfully entered remission. Although the results were positive, Ken knew the cancer could return at any time, so he was determined to make the most of every moment and spend as much time as possible surrounded by family and friends.
Unfortunately, after 5 years in remission, the cancer returned and in 2002 he underwent surgery to have it removed. Despite initial thoughts that the surgery was a success, the cancer had spread and he spent the next 5 months in and out of the Intensive Care Unit whilst undergoing further treatment. On May 25th 2002, Ken passed away at the age of 48.
Ken worked as a solicitor until his second bout of cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. We all miss him every day, but have found peace in our wonderful memories of him.
