Remembering – Braedon Hensel
In April 2011, Braedon Hensel was only 19 years of age when he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive Ewing’s Sarcoma. His only symptom was a sore neck!
After recovering from surgery Braedon commenced simultaneous Radiation and Chemotherapy at Peter Mac (over 3 hours from home). Braedon and his mother lived in Melbourne for 12 months separated from family, as he endured harsh and aggressive treatment.
Braedon continued his University studies and also played cricket despite requiring neck fusion surgery. He enjoyed some time of being cancer free, however the cancer returned in his lungs in March 2013.
Braedon fought long and hard before succumbing to his cancer on the 26th June 2014. Throughout this time Braedon stayed true to himself, displaying incredible resilience, mental strength and a pure love of family, friends and life. He is deeply missed.
